Corrugated Cardboard Production Process
The corrugated cardboard production machine consists of units with a length of approximately 150 meters in which various processes are performed. It can be worked from narrow dimensions to 3.3 meters wide widths. The corrugated cardboard machine consists of two units called the wet part and the dry part due to the operations performed.
The corrugated cardboard production process starts with attaching the paper suitable for the cardboard to be produced to the coil feet. The corrugated section, which is the most important unit of the corrugated cardboard machine, gives the corrugated shape by passing the paper, which is softened in steam and conditioners, between the corrugated rolls. After the corrugation is formed, starch-based glue is usually applied to the corrugation peaks and adhered to the paper by pressing. The single-sided corrugation obtained is combined in the part called bridge. There are 2 corrugating rolls in double-flute production machines, and 3 corrugated rolls in triple-flute production. The single-faced corrugation accumulated in the bridge part is transmitted to the cashew by passing through the glue unit. The corrugated cardboard is dried on heating pans and its moisture is removed. The edge flaps of the cardboard, which comes to the box section after the curd, are first cut and sent for recycling, and transverse sizing is done by razor cutting and longitudinal sizing is done by scissors as planned. If desired, ribs are drawn on the cardboard vertically to the grooves.
Wet Unit and Coil Feet.
Coil feet are the part that provides the paper bobbin fed in the corrugated cardboard machine to be held parallel to the machine, paper equality and paper tension during the operation of the machine. There are two coil feet in each section. While one foot holds the coil being worked on, the other foot is preparing the coil to be added and the continuity of the corrugated machine's operation is ensured.
The pneumatic disc brake system of the two heads of the coil feet is used to adjust the paper tension.
Adding a coil.
Splicers ensure that the corrugated cardboard machine works without interruption by splicing the papers in the coil feet. The applied temperature opens the pores of the paper, allowing the glue to penetrate into the paper and increases the quality of the adhesion process. The amount of heat to be given to the paper can be adjusted with the winding arms in the preheater and shunters. The winding arms can wind up to 270 degrees.
The corrugated cardboard produced is then processed in other machines to produce boxes or boxes.
